Adapting to Change and Thinking Creatively

This is one of the competences that I had to practice the most in the LEAD Office. Mostly, adapting to change and thinking creatively came into play when facilitating workshops. The office has tons of source for different workshop activities and lesson ideas, but the different populations that I got to work with throughout the year always required me or my team to make slight changes. This having all of these opportunities to practice adapting to change and think creatively, I have been able to really improve these skills.

Also, I got to observe how other people think creatively and learn from them for future needs to change the plan. For example, the graduate assistant of the LEAD office recently adapted an activity called S.M.A.R.T. goals. She thought that the activity might be boring just as a worksheet, and many students in the class might have already done it. So instead, she still had the worksheet, but the main activity was creating a vision board about a S.M.A.R.T. goal that the student’s had. All the students really enjoyed this activity even those that had encounter activities involving S.M.A.R.T. goals before.
