Making Informed Decisions and Solving Problems

In general, I try to make my decisions by looking at different angles before I fully decide what to do. I also tend to be more of careful person, so I try to have some back-up options for any decisions I make, just in case things do not go as planned. I like to weigh the disadvantages and benefits before I make decisions about anything. For example, if it is a project, I like to make sure that the goal is realistic and can be achieved in the time that I or the group has. I also try to make my decisions by using my knowledge of the situation or looking for that knowledge/someone who has the knowledge. I try to make sure that everyone is being treated fairly in the situation and that the solution to the problem is the best that it can be. If something goes wrong with a decision I made, I will take full responsibility and learn from the experience to improve in the future.
Workshop- Bull Ring

In Spring 2016, I took a class called Ethics and Leadership with Professor Nicholas Lennon (who is also the director of the LEAD Office). In that class I was able to really reflect on my values, how they were important to me and how they influenced my ethics and decisions I made. Having already reflected on my values and why they were important to me in the Leadership and Ethics class, allowed to me to make quick decisions that also aligned with my character while being an LC.

As an LC I have had the chance to facilitate many different types of workshops this semester, and as a result I have grown to be able to make decisions quickly. I also have had to become a quick problem solver as well. This growth was from the variable nature of the workshops. Sometimes the number of people at a workshop end up being more than expected or less. The attitudes of the people in every group is also always different. Sometimes the amount of time I thought we would have is less or more than originally planned as well. With all these changes, being able to cut a workshop, re-organize groups and make quick decisions or solve problems is an essential skill that I have grown.
